Is it a good idea to get a USB Hub and do they work very well?
And how much are they? I only have two usb ports on my computer and they are both being used. I could use more.

- You can always use extra usb ports. They are easily available for under 15.00 dollars US. They sell many with card readers too. Check the online retailers like newegg, tigerdirect, etc.
- The thing about USB is that it has an address for each item on the buss. Think of this like an apartment building, with the building being a single address like used by a RS232 port. No addressing is used in RS232, as only ONE item is available on the port. Then, USB uses a sub-address in the data header of a packet to distinguish between apartments in the building, which means you can select a single apartment within the main address of the building. RS232 only assumed a single device on the end of the wire, but USB distinguishes between items on the end of the wire. A hub allows the addresses to be resolved at the end of the wire which a single RS232 link does NOT.
- Yes get 55 more.
- I bought one from circuitcity for $6 (on clearance) and it seemed to work ok at first, but then it caused all sorts of problems with my computer. Then again I had 4 external hard drives hooked up to it and 2 printers (one photo printer and one regular printer) so it didn't work out for me. I'm also working on a laptop, definately not powerful enough for what I do. A hub should work well for average computer users.
