USB Adapter?

I bought a new keyboard and mouse for my Dell 4600 desktop. The new equipment both have USB connections. What is the name of the adapter I need to buy to convert to the other connector (sorry, don't know the name- it's the round one, color-coded, connects to the back of the processor). Thanks!

  1. USB to Mouse/Keyboard Port Why not use the USB? If you only have one USB port you can buy a small USB Hub that will give you more ports. More tips and how to's on my web site
  2. You need a USB to PS2 adapter. Any computer store will have it. Hope this helps!
  3. That's a pretty nice system from the spec's on line. I see that it has 8 USB ports on it. Just use a couple of those. If you need to, you can purchased a powered USB hub for around $15. If you just really really really want to use the keyboard and mouse ports, what you are looking for is a USB to PS2 adapter. But you don't need it in this case. Good Luck.
  4. That's called a PS/2 plug (concise history: IBM a LONG LONG time ago decided to reinvent the IBM PC by introducing IBM PS/2 series of PCs, with MicroChannel architecture that was supposed to be faster, and the keyboard/mouse plug standard that's still seen today) Your keyboard and mice *should* come with adapters already. If they don't, I doubt you will find adapters that will make them work in a PS/2 plug. All of the stuff that I can find goes in REVERSE, i.e. make PS/2 style keyboards and mice work in USB. But why? Don't you have any USB ports at all?
  5. YOU NEED A "USB TO PS2 CONNECTOR" IT IS AVAILABLE ON ANY COMPUTER ACCESSORIES SHOP AT PRICE OF 5 US $ MAXIMUM. THE MOUSE PORT COLOR IS GREEN, AND KEY BOARD PORT IS PURPLE. YOU CAN CONNECT YOUR KEY BOARD AND MOUSE ON YOUR USB PORTS, THESE PORTS ARE LOCATED DOWN SIDE OF OF KEY BOARD/MOUSE PORTS. GOOD BYE
